LLOYD’S REGISTER FOUNDATION

SHE_SEES

SHE_SEES is an ongoing photography and storytelling project celebrating women in maritime industries. Developed through Lloyd's Register Foundation's Rewriting Women into Maritime History initiative, the project is creatively led by Emilie Sandy in partnership with Lloyd's Register Foundation since 2022, creating a distinctive programme of portraiture, exhibitions and storytelling that brings greater visibility to women's contributions across the sector. At Boathouse 4, the exhibition is presented alongside stories from Portsmouth's dockyard community, including portraits of Betzy Shell and Emily Ball.

SHE_SEES

The video below highlights the opening of SHE_SEES at the International Maritime Organization in September 2023, where over 400 people gathered to celebrate the remarkable women shaping the UK maritime industry. Following the exhibition's success, we are exploring a second phase that will share stories from women across the global maritime community.
